A Zoom-based Mariner House Board of Directors meeting was held on Tuesday, November 21, 2023. Eileen Fox, Tammy Rausch, Bob Vanasse, Mark Thurston, Gloria Kunz and Bill Hathaway were in attendance. A quorum being president, President Bill Hathaway called the meeting to order at 6:00 PM. Tracy Canty also participated.
PROPERTY MANAGER REPORT
Island News
- The Mid-Island mixed use structure was approved. This controversial project will house apartments, retail establishments, the Downy Flake and a bowling alley.
- Investigation into the destruction of the historic Main Street fountain continues.
- President and Mrs. Biden are on the way to Nantucket for their annual Thanksgiving visit.
- Christmas Stroll begins next week.
Mariner House Update
- October Mariner House occupancy was 75%.
- There were no major repair items this month.
- Replacement of gutters on both the Center and India Street is complete. The gutter is one continuous piece of 3” copper with copper downspouts. The aging process will reduce the shine of new copper.
Old Business
- There is no unfinished business from the last Board Meeting.
New Business
- The Board discussed the possibility of transferring funds to a different financial institution if more favorable rates can be obtained. Bob Vanasse volunteered to research alternatives.
- Joseph Guay continues to work on our foreclosures.
- Nantucket Networks will present a proposal for consolidation of MH existing technology installation. The proposal, expected in December, will address building wiring, cable TV and streaming options, and telephone service.
- Election of Officers: Gloria Kunz moved that Bill Hathaway continue as President, and Tammy Rausch continue as Treasurer. Bill Hathaway moved that Gloria Kunz continue as Secretary. The motions were seconded by Eileen Fox and passed unanimously.
There being no additional new business, Gloria Kunz made a motion to adjourn, which was seconded by Eileen Fox. The meeting was adjourned at 6:25 p.m.
The next Mariner House Board of Directors meeting will be held, via Zoom, at 7:00 p.m. on December 19, 2023. Bob Vanasse will provide Zoom ID prior to the meeting.
